Water Efficiency

Part G of the Building Regulations sets the standards for water efficiency in new homes. Its main purpose is to ensure properties use water responsibly and meet the required consumption limits.

Water Efficiency
What you need to know.

Water efficiency calculations help predict how much water a home will use, ensuring it meets the requirements of Part G of the Building Regulations. These calculations are essential for all new homes. As sustainability becomes a bigger priority and our population continues to grow, designing homes that use water responsibly has never been more important.

Water use is measured in litres per person per day. To comply with Part G, a property must demonstrate that its predicted consumption does not exceed 125 litres per person per day. In some areas, particularly London and the South, local authorities may impose even stricter limits as low as 110 litres.
